My first trial on Interior Design

BEYOND FABRIC: A tribute to my love of black and white.

I love WHITE just as much. White is everything.

Yellow---is the color of the room I first painted---my own room back home! This time, I wanna do striped yellow. Or yeah, I am considering striped red too.

The blue is for the boys in my life: My LAA, our JB and our coming baby boy.

First set of gowns using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop Fashion Designs

Woohoo! Is finally making designs in my own computer. I love doing it this summer! I'm ready to submit my projects, finish my portfolio and most of all, teach Beginning Level in Fashion Graphics or CAD Fashion Design!

I still need to finish the final project that is due on June 4, Saturday. This could mean work after work for me starting on Tuesday. I can not however start now because this Memorial Weekend has the only Saturday off from school since 2011 started. It's surreal to enjoy staying at home, nothing beats it!

Last project for draping

I was thinking that fabric without print or extra texture was too plain for my gown project. I was really having jacquard fabric in my head.
My mistake (which I won't say) turned out be to a really an artistic twist on the bodice.
Draping is both a form of discipline and art. =) Of course!

The highlight of this gown is the shell on the sides: this gown is intended for women who would like their waist to look small but their hips bigger than usual.

With a little more flair here and there, this gown could actually be a period gown or an epic movie costume, LOL! I would want to design for a movie given the opportunity, why not?

This project taught me a lot---and that's the least to say!

After Draping I, II and III, I have metamorphosed from someone who is not even able to cut and sew the hem of her pants to someone who can actually make a gown. In the light of things that has been, I forgot that I do not know! Now, I simply know how. Period.

Florals

Finally it feels spring and even my choice for fabric has been influenced by the season that is trying to set in. The buds are just beginning to grow on tips of every tree.

I contracted a throat infection from work while doing this project due to lack of proper rest and enough sleep. I get sneezed at, coughed at and breathed at in my workplace so you can picture the rest. On Wednesday night, I got home at 10:30pm due to crazy train schedule when I was homebound. Then on Thursday afternoon, I found this floral fabric in a small store near my workplace, that has automatically become my tiny piece of heaven for fabrics. =) I went home and went crazy making this dress causing me to sleep late again.

Friday---my body complained the whole day with chills!

I never picked up the dress to finish. I still want to live!

I was in bed the whole Friday after work for energy the next day. My LAA had something very important to do so JB was with me in school. We dropped by MACYS flower show.

Draping Class 1 Final Project

All of my work are in muslin fabric becoz real fabric here costs a lot. The cheapest are starting at 150 pesos; the ones that are on sale. So bear with my creations that fades along with the color of my dress form.

This is my creative top for 4/2/2011. I finished it on the same day becoz I don't like falling behind. I am often behind.

Thanks to all those who expressed appreciation to my Draping 1 final project. I sure went crazy first before I figured out how my pieces can go together. My LAA did help me on this one!

Those tucks and ruffles did took time to prepare but I sooo love doing them!

I did not compromise this project of mine for time. I could have kept it simple but my heart was telling me to see what I wanted to create.

The Cowl and the Halter

Oppss! I just realized I did not take a photo of the halter. The simple conservative cowl. Did a quick photoshoot for Edteresa. We're shooting the beginning part of her portfolio this spring break at Highline Park! Can't tell you how excited I am for that.

Draping Class 1

Today is the day I felt successful in class with Professor Pizzi! After weeks of flustered effort on sewing a skirt, I finally got the beat and was able to catch up with all the instructions. Left my draped blouse and skirt on the lady form so I can pick up work by Wednesday from where I left off. Will work on my design ASAP.

Sewing Class

Been working on this simple skirt for 8 hours straight and more that I don't seem to finish.

I missed a requested photoshoot for OliveFotografix, my son's tap and swimming class coz I was stuck on that chair the whole day learning clean stitch, french seams, putting on the zipper etc. etc.

Taking a break... Asking for help from the Professor. (He's Italian so imagine how he wants our work to be.)

All day work.

"Where's my scissors? My chalk? My pins? My etc etc." That's what you hear from time to time in our sewing class apart from the occassional sigh and the humming of the machine.

Zi---she's very confident with her work and very helpful too.

Ahhh...one great relief after all the pressure from class---all the big shops outside our window.

There' s all that you can think of outside. I probably spent a hundred each of the past 5 weeks. Is that good or bad?

Oleg Cassini

I know that a number of you also love Jacqueline K-Onassis' clothes, just like me!

One designer that has the biggest influence in my conscious and subconscious is Oleg Cassini. Clothes I admire while growing up were from him, since my Aunt who was a dressmaker was a big fan herself.

So, who is Oleg Cassini?

Here's a short info from Wikipedia:

Oleg Cassini (April 11, 1913 – March 17, 2006[1]) was a French-born American fashion designer noted for being chosen by Jacqueline Kennedy to design her state wardrobe in the 1960s. He became the exclusive costume designer for his then-wife, American film and stage actress Gene Tierney. His designs appeared in eleven of Tierney’s films in the 1940s and 50s.
